The Dead Bunny Society (DBS) comprises of three practicing artists with a wide variety of artistic and curatorial experience. DBS aims to create a community of artists, curators and galleries that work towards promoting the arts by creating independent platforms for exhibitions in various pop-up locations, workshops and various collaborative projects.

Established in March 2015 we have added to our list of collaborations and pop-up venues around the country including Underculture Contemporary in Port Elizabeth, the Turbine Art Fair 2015/16​ (Johannesburg), Priest in Jan Smuts, Joburg Fringe 2015 (Maboneng Precinct), The Art Room in Parkhurst, Fried Contemporary in Pretoria, No End Contemporary Art Space in Linden (Johannesburg), DF Contemporary (Cape Town) and KKNK 2016/17.

DBS now also runs a small project space (initiated in August 2016) from Ellis House Art Building, 23 Voorhout Street, New Doornfontein, Johannesburg. 

 
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
DIRK BAHMANN
Dirk is an architect and artist, who was born and lives in Johannesburg. He studied Architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand and obtained his qualifications, a BAS in 1997 and B.Arch in 2000 with distinction. His work spans and combines a number of diverse disciplines ranging from photography, physical computing, sculpture, and architecture. Central to his work is the exploration of the existential dimensions of the nature of place of Johannesburg.
STEPHAN ERASMUS
Stephan has been a practicing artist for more than 20 years and has gained experience the gallery industry by working in a wide variety of galleries that includes municipal, commercial and corporate galleries. Through his experience in the art world he has honed his skill as an educator, curator, sales person
and as an artist.
In his artistic career he has established himself as a recognised artist represented in corporate, university, museum and private collections locally and internationally.
NEIL NIEUWOUDT
Neil is a visual artist and has been curating professionally since 2008 (Cape Town) until beginning 2015 (NIROXprojects, Johannesburg) where he functioned as gallerist and has been project manager/ curator for numerous independent projects both locally and internationally.
He is a founding member of the Dead Bunny Society (March 2015) alongside Dirk Bahmann, Stephan Erasmus and Peter Mammes which aims to create an independent fringe platform for exhibiting and curating various exhibitions around the country and abroad.

His own work has been included in exhibitions around the world, Berlin, San Francisco, Luxembourg, and locally in Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Johannesburg. He has also recently been awarded the Ampersand Fellowship and will be doing the residency in New York City, NY (February 2016)
COLLABORATORS
PRIEST ESPRESSOBAR
Priest Espressobar is part edit and production office, part coffee shop and part art gallery. Priest collaborate with the Dead Bunny Society to create an independent and fringe platform for artists.

THE ART ROOM 
Over 25 years experience in the Art and Framing industry. The Art Room was established in 2007. We are passionate about South African Art and promoting new talent. We specialize in art on paper and showcase various forms of printmaking. We offer a custom  and fine art framing service. We assist in setting up art collections for individuals and corporations. Over the years we have worked on various Hotel project, supplying them with art and framing, for hotel groups such as - Southern Suns, Sun International & Tsogo Sun.
Our latest project was The 54 On Bath Hotel, in Rosebank.

OUT OF THE CUBE
outoftheCUBE is an online visual arts platform. Our aim is to promote the work of a diverse range of contemporary South African artists via compact, curated online exhibitions. Our core fascination with creative work will always be ‘why?’ rather than ‘what?/who?’.
Our wish is that the outoftheCUBE website will become a useful and credible tool for students, educators, and researchers of South African art, and with this in mind, we have an ongoing collaboration with the Dead Bunny Society where we feature their catalogues on outoftheCUBE   www.outofthecube.co.za/DeadBunnySociety.aspx

CHOCOLATE INK STUDIO
Chocolate Ink Studio is a professional screen-print studio that specialises in the production of fine art editions. We offer services to clients in the form of collaborations and technical expertise with regard to hand-printed silkscreen editions. Workshops in screen-print ranging
from beginners, intermediate to advanced as well as one-on-one tuition is available. 

Chocolate Ink Studio is also a printmaking space where artists make use of the facilities to create their own artworks, and has an in-house etching press and relevant inks for relief and intaglio printing.
